Constellation

The mobile at the new Dena'ina Center, where AFN was held this year, is an amazing work of art.  It is a 5o ft. tall hollow tube created by cables suspending hundreds of resin sea animals, birds and mammals.   You can follow it all the way up and down the escalator, and every floor of the building reveals different animals.  Reading up on it later,  I discovered that one of the pair of artists who created it has a masters in engineering from MIT.  It's so beautiful and a mix of two of my favorite things, art and animals!

Nothing going on here except work, work, work, but I'm not complaining.  Here's a few pics taken this fall, just a few glaciers, mountains and a lake that I thought were pretty.

I am taking another blogging hiatus for a while, as I am gearing up for a busy week of production work for the Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) Convention next week. Here's a few of the village dog Casper I snuck into my house, kept warm, fed and spoiled all summer.

full house

I was wondering why Cinnamon wasn't getting into her house during a major downpour, so I walked over to see what was up.  I quickly saw that all six puppies (who have their own house) had cozied up in her house.  At least, I thought it was all six at first, and then noticed one more climbing in.  The last picture is all six in...how cozy!  Poor Cinnamon.

I already miss the colors!

before and after

A few days ago I posted the above pic to show the new snowfall.  That's nothing compared to what it looks like now. Now we're really talking snow!  It's sort of sad to see those beautiful fall leaves go.  They never last long enough.

Here is another one of my fave petsits, the pics speak for themselves, really, in terms of ultimate cuteness.

One of my favorite petsits Angel recently passed away.  I had a magical time out in Big Lake last winter taking walks with her in the beautiful scenery around her house.  Big Lake is not far from Wasilla, but it's like a different world.  And she was one of the sweetest dogs ever, you can probably tell from her face!

I finally made it up to Hatcher Pass at the tail end of fall colors, two weekends ago. Last year I it was already covered in snow by the time I made it out there.  The pictures don't do it justice, it's SO beautiful up there.  Here's a pic near the summit and one of the Little Su river on the way down.

snow!

What a pleasant surprise.  It didn't really stick but it was lovely watching it fall anyway.
