I'm on my way to Kodiak for my summer Wildlife Tech job, this time in Chignik.  It's about an 18 hour ferry ride from Kodiak.  I only stopped there for about 15 minutes last summer dropping off a co-worker, but I had time to take these pictures.  Looking back over them, I'm thinking that dog-wise, Chignik is definitely the place to be.  I missed out on dogs last year, what with all the bears.

We had literally 35 minutes to race through the zoo, because we didn't realize how early it closed.  Still, we managed to see a lot, including Namaste the Bengal Tiger (whose enclosure we were allowed to enter even though it was closed and we got to watch him do his post-dinner paw licking) and Penny Ante the Anteater.  And the peacocks that were running around loose and weren't bothered at all by my incessant picture taking.  I'm not sure what the bottom creature is but I love his tiny bottom teeth and underbite.

Here are some cool statues we during our travels on the Big Island.

The avocados in Hawaii were lusciously huge, and so were the strawberries. Unfortunately we only ran across not ripe enough or over ripe avocados, but we did eat lots of sweet delicious strawberries.

My new nephew and I both love wide-brimmed hats.

My sister Kristina owns the friendliest horse.  He loves to rest his head on your shoulder. It's the like getting a big horse hug.

I am in Hawaii right now, enjoying the sights on the Big Island and meeting my new nephew, who lives here.  Pics coming in a few days! (didn't bring my cord, have to do them when I get back on the 9th....)
