I am going to take another break from blogging.  I am thrilled to be working on a PBS documentary on the Alaska Native Civil Rights movement, but it definitely cuts into my roaming around AK taking pictures time.  I am excited to take a week off next week to head out to Paxson to help care for about 55 sled dogs.  I didn't have time this year to handle for any races, so this trip will be a quick sled dog "fix."  It will be fun to get back to feeding the wood stove, chopping frozen fish and hauling water, not to mention enjoying the scenic beauty of Paxson Lake and hopefully getting in a bit of mushing.  The dog above is one of my petsit "clients," I just thought it would be a good image to leave you with!

It was so much fun to see my favorite bird, the Oystercatcher, in New Zealand.  I had never seen the Pied Oystercatcher before, which is almost identical to the Black Oystercatcher, but has the white feathers, which you can see a little when they're walking on the beach, but is much more obvious in flight.

It's definitely more fun at work with a moose and baby right outside your window!  I working over at KAKM now off of University Drive, which is a nice woodsy setting that apparently gets a lot of moose action.  They were using the salt spread out on the sidewalk as their own personal salt lick.  As you can see, I have included lots of baby shots, I couldn't get over how it was kneeling with its butt up.
