Here are some "before" and "after" photos taken by my friend Chris, who in the thick of the forest fire situation in Fairbanks.  Right now there are over 800,000 acres burning in Interior Alaska, and due to hot weather and low humidity, it's getting worse.  It's a scary situation!  I was supposed to take a flight from Anchorage to Fairbanks last night, but all of the flights yesterday were cancelled, and have been delayed again today.   I have no interest in getting close to all that smoke, anyway.

Well, I had to go anyway, but about 48 hours later. Much better after a day of rain. I didn't know that about the Lupin, ID, thanks for a good factoid!
