Yay!!! Go Alaska! You've vindicated your state, after hearing the "80% approval rating as Governor" repeated by the media, ad nauseam.

Yeah, it was a great gathering. I missed the sign that said, "Bristol had a choice." And the Obama supporters drowning out the Palin supporters. But these pics give you a good idea of the vibe and crowd.

Laura, Thank you for the pictures. They show a good-sized, positive crowd. (Loved the MLK=community organizer, George Wallace=governor sign.)

Cool to see that the first real protest happened on the home turf.

Election season in Texas is always kind of depressing, because even though my region is heavily Democratic, the state always votes RED. People like you encourage us to keep fighting.

That cute little girl for Obama who will need her reproductive rights...and the other cute one in pink...how many abortions will they have before they're 25? Abortions for 'social reasons' (i.e. birth control) are so common now.UNITED STATES. 1,35O,000 A YEAR.
THERE ARE 46,000,000 A YEAR WORLDWIDE.
1% BECAUSE OF RAPE OR INCEST

Thank you for these pictures! And thank you to the brave Alaskans to say the TRUTH! Each picture says more than 1,000 words! And that one woman holding a sign up showing a wire hanger brings back child hood memories for me. I found a book of my mothers.. I can't remember the name of the book, but the images are with me for the rest of my life. The photos were in black and white, showing women that had died from trying to give themselves abortions with the wire hanger.

All the best to AK,

I was at the rally and was happy to see so many Alaskans peacefully expressing themselves. I only heard about the rally the morning of the event and it didn't dawn on me to make a sign. I'm a guy, but it seemed important to me to at least add my presence, because this isn't a gender issue to me. It's an issue of character and experience and stands on the policy challenges facing this country. It would be great to see another rally closer to the election. Perhaps many Alaskans who have supported Palin for no better reason than "I like her" will see that there are a lot of people who are proud to stand outside and make their views known. The group today was only a small fraction of those who see Palin and McCain as merely a continuation of failed policies.
Thanks so much for posting photos. I only took about 10 and yours are so much cooler!

Followed the link here from Halcro's blog--thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm vacationing overseas and reading the media reports from here is so disheartening, it's like everyone is so madly in love with Governor Palin she can do no wrong. And then these photos, and from Alaska itself, Palin's own home ground no less! You go, girls! I only hope I'll be home in time for the next rally!

Wow! A friend just sent me this link, and it made my day! Thank you so much for taking a stand and for posting the great pictures. You all are positively inspiring.

Hello from Los Angeles, California.

Yay Alaska! It's awesome to see what's really going on up there, to watch the MSM down here, a person would think everyone up there was in love with Ms. Palin. Nice to see an alternate point of view expressed so strongly. I am sending links to this to all the media outlets in the Los Angeles area as well as the national cable channels. You guys rock!

I was there and quite pleased with the 15:1 (AKWRP 15: Eddie Burkites1) show up.
essentially all were well mannered, except for a few.

It would be nice to see this happen many more times before the election.

I heard a different take on one of the signs on Hartman

I'm so proud of everyone who attended that rally! GO Alaska! I'm sending your link to everyone in my Nebraska Women for Obama group. I live in a VERY conservative state and those of us that are PRO Obama know what it feels like to go up against the uber conservatives. We will not be silenced! We just keep canvassing, registering voters, phone banking, sending out postcards, setting up booths at festivals and functions.

We may not be with you physically, but we are with you in spirit.

My girlfriend is a Democrat from Florida, she has made me become so interested in this election. I haven't for one day believed all the tossed up hype that Ms Sarah Palin is so well loved with 80% approval...for someone who was almost unknown until Pa McCain made his panicky pick (no pun intended. And what's with her attempt to make women look stupid, for her own political gains, by trying to whip up sexist sentiments....imagine claiming Obama refered to her as a pig. We will all do well to keep this hypocrite and pathological liar away from Washington....trust me, immediately she gets into office she will begin to scheme to do away with Jay Mc and come back and make women pay to keep their pregnancies.

I'm glad to see that there is some form of protest going on in this state of ours. Palin was up here too, but she was only on a military base. You know what kind of reception she got there, right? Whoops and hollers and cheers, OH MY!

And for any Alaskans that are reading this, something to keep in mind...
When she runs for a second term for governor, remember, she bailed out on us once, leaving us high and dry w/the Lt. Gov. What will stop her from doing it again? Don't vote Palin in 2010!

9:02 AM

Anonymous Anonymous said...

Another Obama supporter from a RED state, so I know the courage it took to take this stand. You all ROCK!!!

It was sad to hear of the threats the organizers of the rally received and it does not surprise me that an unethical conservative talk radio host released their names.

I am distressed at the level of bullying from the conservatives in this country. It is like living with a bunch of Nazis.

Comment for Java Diva,

I, like you, live in SF and would relish a Palin visit...but of course she won't come here.

However, she IS scheduled to be at a benefit dinner ($1,000 gets you in the door, $2,500 gets you a McCain lapel pin, and $50,000 gets you 3 pictures with the Alaskan Governor) in Woodside next week and I know that Code Pink and some other people plan to protest, so here is some info:

Wow, a coat hangar...dead women who 'resorted' to it...do you really hate babies and life so much that you would die before "enduring" 7 more months of pregnancy? Will the pregnant woman in the pic be scraped "clean" at the next rally? Check out this link, and look really close at how many women regret thier abortions, and how many say it ruined, not improved their life.
