A first!

I actually thought this was a sled dog trotting down the Parks Highway between Healy and Cantwell. When I realized it was a wolf, I scrambled for my camera and managed a few quick shots before it darted back into the woods. A car pulled over behind me, and we both watched to see if it would come back. The car behind me took off before me, and while passing me, the woman gave me a big smile, as if to say, "Do you believe we just saw that?!"
This was definitely an Alaskan first for me!

I love it when I see wolves... there is something so elusive about them and I feel like I've seen into a secret world.

Ok, the bears were cool, but this is the best! How awesome to see a wolf wandering about.

Like the wilderness just flashed you.

Susane-How lucky that you've seen them more than once! This was my first and I can't imagaine being lucky enough to see them again!
ID-Thanks, I like the coloring, too! Especially the tip of the tail!
Finny-It definitely was a surprise, I shoulda had my camera locked and loaded, but you just don't expect to see a wolf ambling along!

You lucky dog! I worked in DNP for two summers and only ever saw a wolf once and I was stationed out at Savage Cabin, where they reportedly roamed back then. Consider yourself blessed!

P.S. I've only just discovered your blog and it's high time I did! Wonderful!
