I volunteered on a Reindeer research project and got the opportunity to work in a village called White Mountain, about 60 miles out of Nome. White Mountain is a stop on the Iditarod route as well. This is me ready for a day of snowmachining. The goggles are pretty cool--can you see the aliens?!?

Was that this year? Sounds very interesting. What kind of stuff did you do?

You can read all about reindeer research at http://reindeer.salrm.uaf.edu/.
I worked both at the reindeer farm in Fairbanks which was with live reindeer and on a meat study in Nome/White Mountain which was unfortunately dead reindeer! But both were interesting and I'll be posting lots more pics. This was two winters ago, as usual, I am drastically behind in my posts!
